Hi Folks:  The editing and DVD authoring of the Moose Madness Series -- six hours of finished video in DVD format -- was a formidable task.  The learning curves were steep, and the project also required me to invest in a complete editing and DVD authoring suite capable of handling all common consumer/pro-consumer formats used over the past ten or so years (VHS, Super VHS, Video 8, Hi 8, Digital 8, and Mini-DV). 

Hunters, fishermen, families with family film, and persons returning from holidays often have great footage that simply needs editing to make it worthwhile film  for others to watch and enjoy.  If you have film in any of the above formats I have the capability off digitizing and editing this film to take out unwanted parts, organizing and placing pleasing transitions between scenes, adding music of your choice, and putting the final product in DVD format for your viewing pleasure. 

It is possible to marry digital still pictures with your video pictures in making your DVD creation.  One can also scan regular photographs to turn them into digital images that can then be used in the video-making process.  The possibilities are endless; however, each has its penalty in time.

One also has to realize that there has to be a great deal of consultation and cooperation between the owner of the original film and the person doing the editing.  The owner's job is to know what he/she wants in the finished product.; it is my job to make that happen.  You have to be prepared to spend the appropriate time in conveying what is wanted or needed.  This is particularly true with longer jobs and when making individual chapters accessible in a DVD.
 

It is work -- It takes time -- But it is a fun process!               
 

Editing & DVD Authoring -- Pricing

Prices for editing and DVD authoring jobs are mostly time related, particularly for larger jobs.  For example, where the owner has the completed video in say, a Hi 8 or other analogue format, and simply wants it to be put into DVD format without any editing, this job will take much less time than a similar job where the owner wants considerable editing of both film and sound and also music inserted before changing it to DVD format.

As each case is unique, the price for an individual product has to be calculated on an individual basis.  However, prices will generally be quoted based on the estimated time required for the editing & DVD authoring involved; this takes into consideration the length of the raw footage to be processed, and the amount of editing and DVD authoring involved.  In all cases, each project requires careful consultation and coordination with the owner of the film.
