Message From Alex Gouthro

Hi Folks:  While filming and editing the Moose Madness Series, I decided that the best way to control the quality of the product would be to learn all aspects of editing and DVD authoring myself.  This resulted in me putting together a complete editing and DVD authoring suite capable of handling all common consumer/pro-consumer formats used over the past ten or so years (VHS, Super VHS, Video 8, Hi 8, Digital 8, and Mini-DV). 


Outfitters often have excellent video footage in these formats that need only to be properly digitized and edited to attractively tell the story an outfitter wants to tell.  By adding suitable transitions between scenes, and a bit of suitable music to this package you can have a very presentable promotional package to show clients at hunting/fishing shows.  Where outfitters don't have the footage needed to make the promotional video they need, I can work with them to obtain the footage.  This footage will be shot in Mini-DV format, using 3-Chip cameras.

While promotional video production is a newer venture on my part, it is a natural progression of my video work.  In 2005 I completed a longer promotional video in DVD format for Club Montagnais, caribou outfitter out of Schefferville, Quebec.  This was a very successful project. 
 

Outfitters and others should understand that the videos produced, while of excellent quality, are not designed for TV promotion, but rather for the purpose of making inexpensive copies for showing or distribution to potential clients.  My objective is to provide you with a cost-effective solution to having your own promotional video.  It's a lot of fun and I'll enjoy helping you make the promotional video of your dreams.   

These promotional videos are meant to show what makes your lodge, your fishing and/or hunting opportunities, and your guide services one step above the rest.          
 

Promotional Video Pricing

Prices for promotional videos vary a great deal, and are negotiated on the basis of the length of the final product, and the time & effort it takes to get to that stage.  For example, where an outfitter has most or all of the film needed to produce the product, the cost would obviously be much less than where Alex has to work with the outfitter to get this film.  Generally, where filming is involved, one can expect to work on a per-diem rate plus expenses, plus a flat charge for the editing & DVD authoring involved based on the required length of the film.  As each case is unique, the price for an individual product has to be calculated on an individual basis.  In all cases, each project requires careful consultation and coordination with the outfitter involved.
